Obituary

Norma Jean Ives Rys Sitter, 90, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Erie on September 29, 1930, a daughter of the late Clifford H. & Martha Yosten Ives. She married the late John J. Sitter Sr. in 2000, who died on March 17, 2003.
Norma graduated from Academy High School. She co-owned Paul Rys Plumbing & Heating for a number of years. She later worked as a secretary for Millcreek School District and Hamot AID Society.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She bowled all of her life and also enjoyed playing cards and tennis.
In addition to her parents and second husband, she is also preceded in death by her first husband, Paul F. Rys.
Norma is survived by a son, Jeff Rys and his wife Janice of Union City; a daughter Sherri Rys of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Thomas Keith of Cambridge Springs and Jeffrey Keith of Union City; and a brother, Robert Ives of Erie.
Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504.
The family would like to give a special thanks to friends who called and visited Norma at her time of need.
Memorial contributions can be made to the UPMC Hamot Aid Society at 201 State St., Erie, PA 16550.
