Obituary for Millicent A. Barney Snyder (Yaple)

Millicent A. Yaple Barney Snyder, age 99, of Erie, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at her home. She was born in Waterford, Pa, on December 17, 1918, the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Tait Yaple.

Millie graduated from Academy High School in 1936. She was very active in the Eastern Star where she held the title of Worthy Matron in 1966. Millie was a member of Church of the Covenant. She was an avid card player and belonged to many card clubs.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband of 39 years, Charles, G. Barney, Sr., and her second husband of 23 years, Carl W. Snyder; her son, Charles “Chip” Barney, Jr.; her grandson, Paul G. Adams, IV; and her brother, Lawrence Yaple.

Survivors include her two daughters, Brenda Adams, of Virginia and Jeanine Liebel, of New York; her son, John Barney and his wife Leslie, of Erie; her four grandchildren, Kimberly, Stephanie, Ryan, and Danielle; her five great-grandchildren, James, Hannah, Nathan, Tyler, and Caleb; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA 16504, on Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of funeral service there at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
