Obituary for Frederick W. Keck

Frederick W. Keck, 66, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at his residence. He was born in South Bend, IN on June 12, 1951 a son of the late Meinrad and Justine Mahoney Keck.

Fred earned his Doctorate in Philosophy, Systemic Theology and his Master's Degree in Spirituality from Fordham University and was an educator at Mercyhurst University, Gannon University, and the Diocesan Deaconate Program. He was ordained a Deacon in 2010 and assigned to Holy Rosary Catholic Church where he also worked as a member of the office staff. Fred was a board member of the C.J. Jung Society and enjoyed drawing cartoons, playing keyboard, watching movies, and reading science fiction.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Jean Kennedy Keck.

Survivors include two brothers, Daniel Keck and his wife, Lorraine Hayda, of New York and Michael Keck and his wife, Karen, of North Carolina; three nephews, Christopher, Cody, and Corey; a sister in law, Jane Kennedy and her partner, Chris Braue, of Beaverton, OR; and a brother in law, Robert Kennedy and his wife, Robin, of Clifton Park, NY.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday morning at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 11:00 a.m.. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2701 East Ave., Erie, 16504.
