Virginia L. Nowak Mingarelli, 95, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at Forestview Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born in Erie on May 18, 1922 a daughter of the late John and Gabriella Nowak Krasinski.
Virginia worked as the china department manager at Halley's Department Store and was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer in Erie and Florida and enjoyed traveling and reading.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Stephen Nowak; her second husband, Julius Mingarelli; her brother, Ray Carson; and her sister, Gertrude Marsh.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Nowak and his wife, Marilou, of Leesburg, VA, and Dan Nowak and his wife, Kris, of Clarksville, MD; one daughter, Lori Azzato and her husband, Steve, of Erie; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; her stepchildren, Lynn Mingarelli-Porter and her husband, Steve, of Maryland and Jimmy Mingarelli and his wife, Nancy, of New York; four step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Saturday at 12:00 noon at St. Luke Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
