Obituary for James H. Speice

James H.  Speice
James H. Speice, 84, passed away at his residence on Wednesday July 19, 2017. He was born on July 1, 1933 a son of the late Harold and Marie Engist Speice.

Raised and educated in the Catholic faith, he learned the essential need for God in his life and the importance of unconditional love for, and commitment to family.

As a veteran, he loved and served his country. During his professional career, he was active in many state and local community organizations too numerous to list.

He is to be remembered for his joyful sense of humor, words of wisdom, and courage. He died as he lived, a man of great faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Monsignor Lawrence Speice.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou; three children, John (Kelly) Speice of Lakewood, OH, Ann Marie (Charles) Siford of Westlake, OH, and Jenny Speice (Michael Fallat) of Rochester, NY; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; one brother, Paul Speice of Erie; and many nieces and a nephew.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Luke Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
