Shawn Ryan Giewont, 29, of Greene Township, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie on March 24, 1988 a son of Richard and Pamela Dinger Giewont.

Shawn graduated from Seneca High School and went on to attend Robert Morris University where he played football. He graduated from Penn State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. He was a partner with Brink & Giewont where he was a C.P.A.. He was a former member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He belonged to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). He was a former member of the Greene Township Lions Club.

Shawn loved spending time with his family and enjoyed sports, the outdoors, spending time on the farm, and playing guitar. He also played in the local band "Rift". Shawn idolized his wife and son. He was a big man with an even bigger heart and he always had a huge smile and hug for whomever he met. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Nelson E. Dinger; his paternal grandfather, Michael J. Giewont; and his paternal uncle, Phillip D. Giewont.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Julie Morris Giewont; one son, Tyler Giewont at home; one sister, Amanda Lewis, her husband, Aaron, and their son, Noah; his mother- and father-in-law, Meg and Rick Morris of Greene Township; two brothers-in-law, David Morris, his wife Jennifer and their two sons, Ryan and Matthew, of Greene Township and Jim Morris, his wife Jenna, and their two sons, Brody and Mason, of Harborcreek; his maternal grandmother, Sandy Dinger of Erie; his paternal grandmother, Leora Giewont of Union City; and his huge, loving, family and many dear friends.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Boniface Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Shawn R. Giewont Children's Memorial Fund, care of PNC Bank, 3830 Pine Ave., Erie, PA, 16504.
