Helen D. Leonard Kelly, 96, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Union City on July 21, 1920 a daughter of the late Sidney H. and Lavina G. Cole Leonard.

Helen graduated from East High School and worked as a sales person with numerous stores in Erie. She was an active member of Glenwood United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She belonged to the United Methodist Women, was past president of the Esther Guild, and taught Sunday School and the Homemakers Class at Glenwood United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener, crocheter, and baker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Kelly; two sisters, Eva Doutt and Margaret Jewell; and two brothers, Paul and Thaddeus Leonard.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan Harris and her husband, Robert R., of New Port Richey, FL; one son, James Kelly and his wife Laraine of Bradenton, FL; her sister in law, Bertha Leonard of Erie; six grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services at Glenwood United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will be private in Erie Cemetery.
