Obituary for William H. Irish
William H. Irish, 91, of Erie, passed away peacefully Tuesday May 30, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Granger, NY on May 8, 1932 a son of the late Elmer and Buellah Greene Irish.
William served in the United States Army as a paratrooper and worked as a section supervisor with the NY State Thruway for 37 years until his retirement. He owned and operated a light aircraft repair and inspection business for 25 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 5958 and American Legion Post 368 in Titusville and was a pilot for over 50 years. He enjoyed planes, Packard cars, and traveling.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Stowe Warnshaus Irish; one sister, Lavina Longstaf; and one brother, Everett "Sonny" Irish.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Irish (Molly) of Placerville, CA, Dennis Irish (Joan) of Erie, and Ronald Irish (Patricia) of Cortland, NY; two grandchildren, Jim and Jeff (Erin); four great grandchildren, Jimmy, Ayden, Alyshia (Quitin), and JT; one great, great grandchild, Ari; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Wednesday June 7th from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
