Obituary for Ronald E. Walter
Ronald E. Walter, 84, of Erie, passed away Wednesday January 18, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Erie on October 10, 1938 a son of the late Edward F. Walter and Susan Neff.
He worked at Penelec, owned and operated Walter’s Tree Service for 65 years among other businesses with his wife, Carol. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed antique cars and going to casinos.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean McCleary Walter; three sisters, Mildred Spath, Virginia Michalczik, and Lucille Cirino; and one brother, George Frederick Walter.
Survivors include one daughter, Alicia Gae Ballard (Jason) of Erie; four sons, Ronald E. Walter, II of Erie, Matthew R. Walter of Erie, John M. Walter (Cinda) of Erie, and Eric J. Walter (Deidre) of Erie; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Dillon, Jesse, Cara, Morgan, Rock, Emma, and James; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service there at 7 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to send a special thanks to his caregiver, Shelly, for her care for Ron.
