Obituary for Charlene A. Nicolia (Devlin)

Charlene A. Devlin Nicolia, 91, formerly of North East, passed away Tuesday January 3, 2023 at her daughter's residence in Apollo, PA. She was born in Erie on May 6, 1931 a daughter of the late Charles P. and Edna Burlingame Devlin.

Charlene graduated from Academy High School and went on to work at Elby's Big Boy. She also worked at the service desk at K-Mart on Buffalo Road for a number of years and was a former member of St. Gregory Catholic Church. She belonged to to the Irish Cultural Society and enjoyed reading.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dominick P. Nicolia; her grandson, Patrick Nicolia; her sister, Carolyn Devlin Crews; and her half-sister, Agnes Devlin Hills.

Survivors include one son, Michael Nicolia (Patricia) of Greeneville, TN; two daughters, Cynthia Morschhauser (Bill) of Apollo, PA and Bethann Downing (Robert) of Zephyr Hills, FL; nine grandchildren, Justin and Mark Nicolia, Dana Kesler (Brandon), Richard Costolo (Jamie), Kacey Costolo (Desiree), Jeremy Steadman (Tabatha), Marsha Chase (Bryan), Amanda Muiruri, and Sondra Hanson (Hollis); 20 great grandchildren; her aunt, Ida Shambaugh, of Spartansburg, PA; her brother in law, Raymond Nicolia, of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service there at 1 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
