Obituary for Robert F. "Bob" Middleton
Robert “Bob” Francis Middleton, 52, of Erie, passed away Saturday December 3, 2022 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. He was born in Queens, NY on August 12, 1970.
Bob graduated from Tech Memorial High School and rode bus #10. He was a faithful employee at the Barber Center until his retirement earlier this year.
Bob’s life was a blessing and he brought enthusiasm and charm to his daily activities.
He was an ambassador for the L'Arche Community, visiting many countries throughout the world. He enjoyed attending Mass at the Gannon University: Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel. He was a member of the Special Olympics and enjoyed basketball and bowling. Bob was also a member of Faith and Light. He loved all kinds of music and enjoyed singing and attending concerts.
He took pride in caring for his home; his favorite tasks included recycling, yardwork, and vacuuming the floors. Bob was dedicated to planning the weekly menus and looked forward to welcoming friends to Journey home for dinner. He led the House Meeting for the week and was helpful with making plans, he always knew when a trip to Country Fair for a Wild Cherry Pepsi would take place!
He loved celebrations! Especially June 24th, his L’Arche Anniversary and August 12th his birthday.
Bob was a friend to all. He enjoyed greeting people with a hug and a smile.
He was compassionate and caring, always offering a prayer or a word of comfort. Although he had some struggles and fears, his faith remained strong. He would often remind us that “Jesus loves you.” We should all remember to live by his quote: “One love another.”
Bob found his family in L'Arche and will be sadly missed especially by his friends and Journey Home housemates.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a Funeral Mass at St. George Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
