Obituary for Lois ""Loie"" Casper (Watcherson)

Lois "Loie" Watcherson Casper, 95, of Erie, passed away Monday September 26, 2022 at Elmwood Gardens. She was born in Renovo, PA on September 8, 1927 the only child of the late Philbert and Thelma Hulings Watcherson.

Loie moved to Erie at the age of 10 and attended the old McKinley grade school, Wilson Junior High, and graduated from Academy High School in 1946. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she belonged to the late J.O.Y. Sunday School class. She was active in the church Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas bazaars, yard sales, and rummage sales. She also bowled on the church bowling team and participated in many church retreats at Olmstead Manor in Ludlow. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, read, and make ceramics.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lewis Casper, Jr., and her son, Lewis Casper, III.

Survivors include her daughter, Judith Schwindt (Pat) of Phoenix, AZ; her son, Henry "Hank" Casper of Erie; three grandchildren, Heidi Kipp (Mike Hazel), Gretchen Flora (Shane), and Patrick "P.J." Schwindt (Julie); five great grandchildren, Jordan and Riley Kipp; Lukas Schwindt, and twins, Gabriel and Grace Schwindt; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to services there on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
