Obituary for Frederick J. "Fred" Marchinetti

Frederick J. Marchinetti, 75, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 16, 2022 at his residence. On September 7, 1946 Louis P. "Geno" and Anna "Molly" Sikora Marchinetti drove from Port Allegany, PA to St. Francis Hospital in Olean, NY for the birth of their son, Frederick John Anthony Marchinetti.

He was raised in that perfect small town atmosphere of riding bikes, chasing lightning bugs, and playing sports; especially baseball from Little League through American Legion.

Upon graduation from Port Allegany Union High School, Fred attended WVU School of Engineering, but graduated from American Automation Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. His first job was running payroll at Pitt, then Domestic Finance, and on to Associates Financial Institute. He worked mostly between Uniontown, PA and Morgantown, WV. Promotions took him to DuBois, and finally Erie, where he changed jobs to Security Bank and retired from National City 24 years later. He then accepted a job from First National Bank and retired in 2014.

He enjoyed hunting, softball, golf, and other activities with his father, sons, and friends. He took special joy in coaching Boys Baseball in Erie.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frederico and Clemente Ablondi Marchinetti and John Galuski and Anna Sikora; and his stepdaughter, Kristina Spinks Newlin.

Survivors include his loving wife and caregiver of 17 years, Phyllis A. Baniszewski Spinks Marchinetti; two sons, Matthew Marchinetti (Laurie Warren) and Jack Marchinetti (Amy Kuneman); two stepdaughters, Laura Figurski (Steven) and Katherine Schwenk (Rick); 10 grandchildren, Tyler and Connor Marchinetti, Hannah Figurski, Alyssa, Madison, and Brian Lemmon, Austin Robert and Angela Newlin, and Aurora and Shawn Pattison; one sister, Lois Baker (George); and his stepson-in-law, Brian Newlin (Brenda).

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
