James F. Saltsman, 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on May 11, 1932 in Renovo, PA, a son of the late Frank and Olga Carlson Saltsman.
He married Joan Sample Saltsman on March 23, 1954.
James graduated from Renovo High School. He served as a 3rd Class Petty Officer in the US Navy during the Korean War on the LST 762 in the South Pacific.
He worked as a grinder and assembler at American Sterilizer for 32 years.
James loved to hunt, fish, golf, and spend time with his family. He and Joan lived in Erie, Pa until retiring in Florida and then returned to Erie to live with family in 2018.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Timothy Saltsman (Debra) of Erie; his daughter, Sharon Fineman (Richard) of Raleigh, North Carolina; his granddaughters, Beth Stawecki (Craig) and Renee Lastowski (David); and his great-grandchildren, Riley and Luke Stawecki, and Alexa, Nick, and Sophie Lastowski.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Goen and Dorothy Hess.
Services and burial are private and at the convenience of the family.
