Obituary for Shirley M. Evans (Snyder)

Shirley Mae Snyder Evans, 91, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born in Greenville, PA on July 28, 1930 to Grandon Robert Snyder and Bessie Rose Gibson Snyder.

Shirley graduated from Wattsburg High School in 1948. She married Frank R. Evans Jr on February 11, 1952, and they built their house in Phillipsville where she lovingly devoted herself to her family with her cooking/baking, sewing, and crafting skills. For many years, she served in numerous capacities for the Wattsburg Hose Company and the Wattsburg Fair Board. After all of her children were in school, she enjoyed time with girlfriends while working for North East commercial farms, and she spent much time researching family genealogy. She loved to spend time with friends playing Bingo to support local fire departments and churches.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her six children, one daughter, Valerie Evans of Salt Lake City, UT,
five sons, Frank R. Evans, III and his wife, Linda Pauline, of Walls, MS, Matthew Evans and his wife, Linda, of Greene Twp., Daniel Evans of Phillipsville, Michael Evans of Phillipsville, and Patrick Evans of Portage, IN; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Tom, Chris, Rick, Nikki, Scott, and Chris; eight great grandchildren, Shanley, Austin, Christian, Jaelynn, Aayden, Alivia, Wyatt, Owen; two great, great grandchildren, Trenton, Cohen; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 1–3pm at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Rd, Erie, PA. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
