Carol Wernicki Mazanowski Hopkins, 85, formerly of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 5, 2022 in Harrisburg, PA. She was born in Erie on May 10, 1936 a daughter of the late John B. and Helen Wittenburg Wernicki.
Carol graduated from Academy High School and worked as a bus driver with the Wattsburg School District. She was a former member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, John W. Mazanowski; her second husband, Harry Hopkins; Carol loved both of her husbands dearly and so, she kept both names; two sisters, Eleanor Martin and Virginia Kochanczyk; and her nephew, Alan Johnson.
Survivors include her son, Michael Stephen Mazanowski and his wife, Debbie, of Wattsburg; her daughter, Patricia Tech and her husband, Alan, of Elliotsburg, PA; eight grandchildren, Jessica Phillips, Sarah Kirstner (Peter), Andrew Tech (Kristine), Emily Henry (Donald), Lisa Burek (Daryl), Michael Mazanowski (Shannon), Joseph Mazanowski (Toni), and Stephanie Mazanowski; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Johnson, of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and are invited to services there on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
