Obituary for Ronald W. Johnson
Ronald W. Johnson, 86, formerly of Erie, passed away on Wednesday March 2, 2022 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born in Erie on June 15, 1935 a son of the late Wilfred L. and Margaret O. Sperry Johnson.
Ronald graduated from East High School. He attended the GE apprenticeship program and became a tool and die maker. He worked for over 30 years at Swanson Erie Corporation. He was a member of the Lawrence Park Athletic Club, Siebenberger Club, McKean Ushers Club, and St. George Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing on softball leagues as a young adult and later enjoyed bowling.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn A. Kress Johnson; one brother, Thomas "T.J." Johnson; and two sisters, Bernice L. Mantsch and Helen Finney
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Nuber (Mark) of Florida and Sharon Harvey (Andrew), of North Carolina; three sons, Steven Johnson of Florida, Timothy Johnson (Michelle) of Erie, and Thomas Johnson (Renee Bebell) of Erie; eight grandchildren, Mark Francis Nuber, Rienna Nuber, AJ Harvey, Justin Harvey, Katlyn Johnson, Joshua Bebell, Thomas Drew Johnson, and Gabriella Harvey; one sister, Catherine Lewis of Ashtabula, OH; two brothers, Robert L. Johnson (Helen) of Florida and Frederick Johnson of Seattle, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of prayer services at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at 10 a.m. followed by burial in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
