Obituary for Virginia Rotthoff (Krause)

Virginia Krause Rotthoff, 93, of Wattsburg, passed away on Monday February 14, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Troy, Michigan on June 7, 1928 the first born of the late Albert L. and Marie L. Martin Krause.

She was a graduate of Mt. Vernon Academy in Mt. Vernon, Ohio where she met her husband, Walter. They were married on April 6, 1947 in Erie. In 1956 Virginia and Walter started Rotthoff's Strawberries, at one time having 25 acres under production. Walter was in charge of the production of the berries and Virginia the office and delivering to stores in Erie. She also worked for Erie Bolt & Nut Co. for 17 years, leaving in 1968 to spend full time at the farm.

She was a member of the Lowville Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she was the treasurer and pianist, playing in church since age nine.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Walter; two brothers, Pastor Floyd A. Krause of the Norristown, PA Seventh-Day Adventist Church and his wife, Julia Krause Starks of Keene, TX and Martin C. Krause of Wattsburg.

Survivors include her sister, Connie M. Longstreet of Wattsburg; her brother, Jim Krause and his wife, Eileen, of Apopka, FL; her sister in law, Martha E. Krause of Wattsburg; David and Cathy Szymanski and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In accordance with Virginia's wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be private in Lowville Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.
