Obituary for Dolores F. Owens (Liocano)

Dolores F. Liocano Owens, 91, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 16, 2021 at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie on September 2, 1930 a daughter of the late Joseph F. Liocano, Sr. and Mildred L. Shelton Liocano.

Dolores served in the United States Air Force; serving as a Technical Instructor and continued a long line of family service to our country which the family continues to this day. She went on to work at Loblaw's, Kresge, Allburn Florist and also with the Erie School District as a teacher's aide. She was a member of Lamb of God Lutheran Church where she taught adult Sunday school and belonged to the Women's Group. She also belonged to the Erie Elks Drum and Bugle Corps. She enjoyed puzzles, baking, and was an avid reader.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James L. Owens, Sr.; one daughter, in infancy, Margaret Beatrice "PeggyBea" Owens; one brother, Joseph F. Liocano, Jr.; one sister, Mildred Blakeslee; two brother in laws David Blakeslee and Al Chase, one sister in law Betty Ann Liocano, and her son in law, Michael Danielewicz.

Survivors include five sons, James L. Owens, Jr. (Jean) of Erie, Michael T. Owens (Darlene) of Florida, Donald A. Owens (Deborah) of South Carolina, Joseph F. Owens (Robin) of Erie, and Douglas A. Owens of Erie; three daughters, Deborah L. Danielewicz of Erie, Mildred E. Roth (John) of Erie, and Laurie J. Bulkley (Dave) of Groton, CT; and a special "adopted" daughter Jane Hull (Phil), 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur R. Liocano, of Hudson, FL; two sisters, Joanne Chase of Corry, PA and Margaret Jean Edmonds (Robert) of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the RUSSELL C. SCHMIDT & SON FUNERAL HOME INC., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Thursday December 2nd from 3 to 7 p.m. and are invited to services there on Friday December 3rd at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
