Obituary for Carol F. Riblett (Rodkey)

Carol F. Rodkey Riblett, age 78, of Greene Township, passed away Saturday, October 02, 2021 at UPMC Hamot Hospital after her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Johnstown, PA on May 19, 1943, a daughter of the late Charles J. and Thelma Pozar Rodkey.

Carol graduated from Richland Township High School in 1961. She earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education from The Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1965 and her Master’s Degree in Education from Edinboro University. Carol was a teacher for the Wattsburg Area School District for 35 years. She was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church since 1973, where she served on the Church Council, Mutual Ministry Committee, and the Evangelism Committee. She was also extremely instrumental in leading the "Prince of Peace Seniors". Carol loved the outdoors and traveling. She enjoyed skiing, hunting, fishing, boating and camping. Carol enjoyed attending shows at the Erie Playhouse.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Rodkey.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Rodney K. Riblett, Sr.; her son, Rodney K. Riblett, Jr. and his fiancée, Teri Prather, of Erie; her brother, Charles J. Rodkey, and his wife Mimi, of New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a Funeral Service the following morning at 10:00 a.m. at Peace of Peace Lutheran Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
