Obituary for Bertelle Ebert (Johnson)

Bertelle Johnson Ebert, 95, of Erie, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Erie, on March 16, 1926, a daughter of the late Bert L. and Anna Sandin Johnson.

Bertelle graduated from Academy High School. She worked as a head teller for Bank of Erie, Union Bank, and retired from Mellon Bank in 1989. Bertelle was a member of Lamb of God Lutheran Church, where she was the treasurer for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle with her friends throughout her life and most recently at the Mercy Center. She was an avid crocheter of over 100 afgans blankets and loved her garden. Bertelle will be remembered as the kindness, most gentle loving person to everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Ebert; her son, Thomas C. Ebert; and her sisters, Annette Ebert and Constance Sandel.

Survivors include her two sons, Glenn D. Ebert and his wife, Ann of Summit, and Stephen E. Ebert, of Erie; her granddaughter, Erica R. DeMauri and her husband Sean, of Erie; her great-grandson, Sean DeMauri; her two step-grandsons, Matthew Rosario and his wife Kari and Joseph Rosario and his Colleen; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd. on Thursday morning from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service there at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
