Obituary for Eugene R. Rougeux

Eugene R. Rougeux, 87, formerly of Carney Avenue, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday August 29, 2021 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie on December 10, 1933 a son of the late Earl W. and Monica Valimont Rougeux.

Eugene graduated from Cathedral Prep in 1951 and proudly served overseas in the United States Army after high school. He worked at Mobile Oil Company for 15 years before working with the PA Department of Public Welfare for over 13 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Siebenbuerger and Zukor Club as well as a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church where he served on the Men's Council. He enjoyed golfing and even scored a hole-in-one on #11 at Corry North Hills Golf Course.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Carole Rougeux, In-Laws John Bauer, Shirley Bauer, and David Engel.

Survivors include his wife of over 66 years, Marcia A. Bauer Rougeux; one son, Patrick Rougeux and his wife, Patricia, of Erie; three daughters, Dawn Smith and her husband, Donald, of Venango Twp., Nanette Baranowski and her husband, Thomas, of Nazareth, PA, and Diane Krysiak and her husband, Jamie, of Erie; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Benjamin (Jaimie), Bretton, Braeden, Aric (Mallory), Keith (Carolyn), Allyson, Kelly, Aubrey (Jeffrey), Angela, and Lauryn; one great grandchild, Mason, a sister in –law Mary Engel, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church from 2 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 2:30 p.m.. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a future date.
