Obituary for Susan Horvat (Wroblewski)

Susan Wroblewski Horvat, 67, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 25, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Erie on April 15, 1954, a daughter of Rita Prawdzik Wroblewski and the late Leonard M. Wroblewski, Sr.

Susan graduated from St. Benedict Academy worked at Erie Insurance as a supervisor of policy holder records and incoming mail for 35 years before retirement. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed trips to New Orleans and New York City for live music and entertainment; cooking for family, friends, and charitable events; and was known by most as "Susie Sabella". She also enjoyed listening to music with her family and friends, spending time in her backyard flower garden, and she loved her Florida room. Grammy especially loved being with her grandchildren.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her nieces, Ari Tate and Angel Hopkins; nephew, Richard Hopkins; and her brother-in-law, Daniel Holdnack.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, James Horvat; one daughter, Kristen Matthews and her husband, Robert, of Chicago; one son, Bryan Horvat, of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Paisley and Maverick; two brothers, Philip Wroblewski (Maria) and Leonard Wroblewski (Michelle), all of Clymer, NY; eight sisters, Sandra Shouse (Tom) of Clymer, NY, Christine Spare (Michael Wau), Cynthia Van Slyke (Tim) of Cassadaga, NY, Jennette Snippert (David) of Erie, Elizabeth Coleman (John) of Erie, Victoria Murray of Troy, IL, Amy Holdnack of Buffalo, and Katherine Wroblewski of Erie; her former brother-in-law, Jeff Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be private in St. Matthias Cemetery in French Creek, NY.
