Obituary for Herbert A. Nupp
Herbert A. Nupp, age 92, of Erie, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center. He was born on November 6, 1928 in DuBois, PA, a son of the late Thomas A. and Mary Christian Nupp.
Herbert graduated from Sandy Township High School. He worked as an electrical tester at General Electric for 39 years, retiring in 1989 becoming a member of the Quarter Century Club. His friends at G.E. gave him the nickname "Herb Superb". When staff at Forestview asked his name, he would grin and say "Herb Superb".
Herbert was a former member of the East Greene Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting, and fishing. Herbert could build or fix anything. With the help of his loving wife Jean, he built the family home in Harborcreek Township, while also working at General Electric.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, John T., Don O., Frank, and Ralph Nupp; his sister, Mary Louise Hulsman; and his granddaughter, Irene Jaroski.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Jean Naugle Nupp; his four daughters, Cyndy Casey, of North East, Pam Rapoza, of Union City, Janet Vogt and her husband, Gene, of Erie, and Linda Jarzynka and her husband, Vince, of Erie; his two sons, Herbert James Nupp and his wife Amy, of McKean and Thomas E. Nupp and his wife Erika, of Russellville, AR; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA 16504 on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and the following morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service there at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Wales Cemetery.
