Obituary for Mary Sue Vogt (Wright)
Mary Sue Wright Vogt, age 80, of Erie, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at her residence. She was born on April 11, 1941, in Tazewell, VA, a daughter of the late John and Lena Neal Wright.
Sue enjoyed playing and singing gospel, blue grass, and old time music, especially at nursing homes and churches. She played the guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and keyboard.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Steven A. Moffatt; her four sisters, Betty Wright, Pamela Wright, Joan Dean, and Evelyn Oliver; and her three brothers, James, Claude, and Ron Wright.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Edward M. Vogt; her son, William “Billy” R. Moffatt, of Erie; her sister, Charlotte Whitesell and her husband Eric, of Tazewell, VA; her brother, John Wright and his wife Helen, of Erie; her grandson, Matthew Drake; her two great-grandchildren, Julian and Rachael Drake; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504, on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services there at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. All current CDC guidelines will be adhered to.
