Obituary for Frances R. Hamilton (Forfia)

Frances R. Forfia Hamilton, age 92, died on Saturday, April 10, 2021. A resident of Erie most of her life, Fran was born in Galloway, West Virginia on March 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Fausto and Maria Molini Forfia.

She graduated from the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. After working for several years in California, she returned to Erie and worked as a nurse at the VA Hospital until her retirement. After her retirement, she volunteered with the American Red Cross. She often helped her family and friends in their times of need. She was a member of St. George Church and also previously attended the International General Assembly of Spiritualist Church in Saybrook, Ohio. Fran enjoyed traveling, skiing and playing golf. She possessed a quick-witted sense of humor, and could always make you laugh.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, James Hamilton. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Ramona Novelli, Lena Dougherty, Cora Parenti, Jess Forfia, Batista Forfia, Guy Forfia, Clara Nowaczyk, Ellen Lachesky and Richard Forfia as well as her lifelong friend, Dolly Baroni.

She is survived by her sister, Anita Balducci of Bel Air, MD, her brother, Robert Forfia of Mahwah, NJ and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

In addition, she is survived by Mr. Hamilton's children, Peggy (Jerry) Loesch and Robert (Sue) Hamilton, as well as her grandchildren, Christie Loesch, Melissa (John Viscardo) Loesch, J. J. (Kim) Loesch, Eric Loesch and Justin (Lisa) Loesch and her great grandchildren, Lyla Loesch, Landon Loesch and Taylor and Trent Viscardo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie City Mission, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or a charity of one's choice.

Funeral services and burial were private at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
