Stella Marie Banister Auer, 93, of Erie, passed away on Saturday April 3, 2021 at St. Mary's Home East. She was born in Erie on July 16, 1927 a daughter of the late William and Ruth Elliot Banister.
Stella worked at Firch Bakery and Marx Toy Works in Girard. She was a member of the North Coast Striders Walking Club. She enjoyed race walks, bowling at both Eastland and Rolling Meadows, gardening, and beach clean-ups.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard "Dick" Auer; four sisters, Jean Banister, Marian Vanco, Dorothy Paszko, and Ruth Banister; and four brothers, Raymond, Robert "Hank", William, and James Banister.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Young and her husband, Robert, of Harborcreek; two sons, David Auer and his wife, Sandra, of Pickerington, OH and James Auer of Erie; four grandchildren, Robert F. Young (Jennifer), Bryan Young (Jessica), Krystyna Auer, and Erich Auer; five great grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, Alexander, Rose, and Jack Young; two step great grandchildren, Caleb and Joshua Sidun; two great, great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Banister and his wife, Rose, of Millcreek and Thomas Banister and his wife, Meredith, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be private for the family.
