Obituary for Diane M. McCandless (Dowd)
Diane M. Dowd McCandless, 67, of Cambridge Springs, passed away peacefully on Monday February 1, 2021 at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born in Jamestown, NY on March 30, 1953 a daughter of Aletha Luce Sanborn and the late Fredrick W. Dowd.
Diane cleaned homes and offices for 20 years, worked at Mercyhurst Prep for 13 years, and worked as a school bus driver with the Ft. LeBoeuf School District for 12 years before retiring in 2013. Later in life she got the farm she always wanted and throughout her life she always believed in the verse "Footprints". She enjoyed sewing, cleaning, animals, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. McCandless; and her grandson, Ayden Kipper.
In addition to her mother survivors include two daughters, Mildred "Mickey" Williams (Stan) of Erie and Kris Coles (Hugh) of Niagara Falls, NY; two sons, Norman "Keith" DeMoss, Jr. of Erie and Clinton DeMoss (Nikki) of Cambridge Springs; five grandchildren, Kyna, Kalee, Sheyann, Blake, Vincent, and C.J.; three great grandchildren, Karissa, Katalina, and Zayn; six half-siblings, Edward Sanborn, Jr. (Dee Dee) of Wisconsin, Nadine Pastoria (Phil) of New York, Leslie Sanborn (Chris) of Cambridge Springs, Vanita Walters (Mike) of New York, Clifford Sanborn (Suzi) of Linesville, and Joyce Weber (John) of Meadville; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. All Erie County Covid-19 guidelines will be enforced.
