Obituary for Jeanne Rogers
Jeanne Chianello Rogers, 89, of Erie, passed away peacefully Friday, January 29, 2021 at The Woodlands. She was born in Erie, on June 7, 1931, a daughter of the late Santo and Assunta Aruffo Chianello.
Jeanne graduated from Academy High School in 1949 and went on to work at General Electric, where she met her husband, James. She later worked as a sales clerk for Kaufmans for 17 years, retiring in 1993. Jeanne was a past member of Holy Rosary and St. George Church. She was member of the local Sewing Guild and enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends. Jeanne was a member of the East Erie Turners and St. George Bocci League.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Rogers; her sister, Theresa Chianello; and her grandson, James Jassak.
Survivors include her five daughters, Patty Jassak, of Erie, Susan Turnbull and her husband Craig, of Morgantown, WV, Kathy Ellis and her husband Jeff, of Chapmanville, WV, Rose Brice and her husband Jack, of New Wilmington, PA, and Carolyn Bartell and her husband Robert, of Palmyra, PA; her sister, Santina Gorndt and her husband John, of Erie; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Holy Rosary Church on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Private burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA 16504.
