Obituary for Louis H. Eller

Louis H. Eller, 98, a resident of the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 30, 2021 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Greene Township on July 1, 1922 a son of the late Lewis and Florence Carr Eller.

Louis proudly served in the United States Army during World War II as an anti-tank gun crewman with the 70th Armored Infantry Battalion in the 20th Armored Division. He worked at Hammermill Paper Company as a machine tender until retiring in 1984. He enjoyed playing racquetball and was an avid golfer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine Powell Eller; his second wife, Jacqueline Trainer Eller; two grandsons, Dusty Eller and a second in infancy; three sisters, Lavina Palmer, Pearl Powell, and Dorothy Butters; and one brother, Lawrence Eller.

Survivors include three sons, L. Keith Eller, of Erie, David Eller and his wife, Jean, of Greene Township, and Daniel Eller and his wife, Carol, of Erie; three daughters, Diana Zenewicz and her husband, Edward, of Erie, Joyce Eller of Manassas, VA and Robin Skelton and her husband, Lewis, of Edinboro; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.
