Obituary for Trenton Miles Mickel

Trenton Miles Mickel, 23 years young, was born in Erie, Pa. on June 14, 1997. On December 30, 2020 he went with the angels on his spiritual journey into heaven. Those of us who admired and loved Trenton have lost a shining and bright light in our lives.
He is the cherished and beloved son of Ted H. Mickel III and Susan M. Rote of Erie, Pa. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Melvyn G. Rote in April 2020 when Trenton honored his grandfather with the military flag fold ceremony with the help of his Godfather and Uncle Michael. In addition, his paternal grandparents also preceded him, Ted Mickel, Jr. and Dorothy Mickel.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his four sisters, Sarah Whitehill, Lyrica Arvelo (Carlos), Shakira Cason, Taylor Mickel; and one brother, Ted Mickel IV, and his maternal grandmother, Kathryn Rote and his dear friend Katie Young. His devoted aunts, uncles, and cousins also remember him and love him forever.
Trenton became a Senior Airman of the United States Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base and was chosen to become a member of the prestigious Honor Guard at Washington, D.C. He was admired, respected and inspired and motivated other airmen to become their personal best. Before enlisting in the Air Force, he was a supervisor at Tim Horton’s after he had completed four years at Collegiate Academy in Erie, Pa.
He was happiest while in the company of his friends and family and absolutely loved being Uncle Trenton. He enjoyed spending his time in nature, kayaking, paddle boarding, working out, reading, listening to music, writing in his journal, writing poetry, playing darts against his Mom, recording videos, and had taken 95,000 photos of everything he loved and enjoyed.
We all are heart broken and we all pray that he is at peace and free of worry. We are forever grateful for the time we were given with Trenton, such a wonderful young man whom we love.
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, funeral services with full military honors, were private and were held at the Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery in Erie, Pa. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, Pa. 16504.
