Obituary for Wilbur C. Kreider

Wilbur C. Kreider, 92, a resident of Elmwood Gardens, passed away on Monday December 14, 2020 due to complications from Covid-19. He was born in Erie on April 22, 1928 a son of the late Oliver L. and Nellie Dreier Kreider.

Wilbur graduated from East High School and went on to work at the bus company. He served in the United States Air Force and worked as the chief mechanic for the Erie Fire Department before retirement. He was a founding member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and was past president of the Men's Council. He belonged to the Moose and CYS Clubs and enjoyed poker and smoking cigars. He was very active in his grandchildrens lives and provided transportation for their various appointments, "You call, I'll haul!"

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Emogene T. Bosch Kreider; one son, Andrew Kreider; three brothers, Leroy, Norton, and Charles Kreider; and four sisters, Kathryn Van Zandt, Charlotte Kochis, Daisy Wilcox, and Genevieve Vogt.

Survivors include four sons, John Kreider of Erie, Joe Kreider and his wife, Sandy, of South Carolina, Tom Kreider and his wife, Debby, of Florida, and Dan Kreider and his wife, Sun, of Las Vegas; three daughters, Jan Henning and her husband, Bo, Karen Toothman and her husband, John, and Sue Brolaski and her husband, Al, all of Erie; 22 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Barber, of Harborcreek; and many nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic funeral services and burial will be private for the family.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.
