Obituary for Marietta C. Knuth (Brown)

Beloved sister and aunt, Marietta C. Brown Knuth, 88, of Millcreek, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 26, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Braddock, PA on July 24, 1930 a daughter of the late Charles and Minnie Kauffman Brown.

Marietta graduated from Academy High School and worked as an impress clerk with GAF for 16 years. She was an active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and the Siebenbuerger Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed helping her family and friends, traveling, wintering in Florida, and collecting tea cups. Family was especially important to her and were fortunate recipients of one of her beautiful handmade afghans upon graduating from high school. She was a friend to everyone she met.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Edwin J. Knuth; one stepdaughter, Barbara Paris; two stepsons, John and Paul Knuth.

Survivors include her brother, Charles Brown and his wife, Patricia, of Erie; nieces and nephews Julie, Elaine, Suzanne, Elizabeth, Colleen and Charles; many grand nieces and nephews; cousins; a step daughter in law, Martha Knuth; a step son in law, Lewis Paris; eight step grandchildren; great step grandchildren; and dear friends including Betty, Nancy and Shirley.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a memorial service at St. Paul's United Church of Christ on Saturday at 11 a.m.. Burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
