Cynthia A Franz, 71, of Erie, PA., passed away on Friday July 20th, 2018 in her home, surrounded by family following a brief illness. Cindy was born July 4th, 1947 to the late Clarence “Hank” Holden and late Elizabeth “Betty” McLaughlin.

Cindy was an avid quilter and created many beautiful pieces of art through her craftsmanship. Professionally she worked in the automotive industry as well as in retail until she ultimately retired. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her wiener dogs. Born on the 4th of July, Cindy had a passion for Red, White & Blue and vintage sewing machines. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister & friend.

She is survived by her beloved son, Eric M. Franz, and his wife, Kerry of Erie; a sister, Daria (John) Pace of Phoenix, AZ., four brothers, Mark Holden, Phoenix, AZ., Patrick Holden, Erie, PA., Donald Holden, Fleming Island, FL., and John Holden, El Mirage, AZ; as well as four grandsons, Kevin and his wife, Steph, Ryan, Brandon & Dylan all of Erie. Survivors also include two aunts, numerous cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband George A. Franz and her son Steven G. Franz whom she adored; and also a sister, Debera Garris.

Arrangements are being handled by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, Pa., Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family offers many thoughts of appreciation to Great Lakes Hospice Care of Erie, including her nurse Linda who was amazing with tending to Cindy and her family as well as a special thank you to Humanity Gifts Registry.
