Obituary for James A. Baldauf

James A.  Baldauf
James A. Baldauf, 79, of Erie, passed away on Thursday January 18, 2018 at Forestview Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born in Pittsburgh on September 3, 1938 a son of the late Rodrick and Ann Dyda Baldauf.

James graduated from Gannon University in 1962 and went on to become a CPA where he worked as a Controller at Zurn Industries and as CFO of Erie Forge and Steel. He served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. He was active with Mercyhurst Prep and was a Trustee at Gannon University for 30 years. He was committed to Catholic education having served on various committees.

He coached his children with EYSA and enjoyed playing golf with his buddies, cross country skiing in which he completed five skiing marathons, and spending time at his cabin by Findley Lake. He also enjoyed wintering in Palm Springs, California for 15 years with his wife where he made many lifelong friends,and driving his motorhome all over the country, only missing one state, Delaware. He was a member of Lakeview Country Club, the Erie Club, and the Mannerchor Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Mead Baldauf; his five children, James Mead Baldauf and his partner, Jacqueline Pullos, of Salt Lake City, UT, Daniel Kim Baldauf of Erie, Deborah Ann Kuhn and her husband, Michael, of Erie, Cynthia Marie Baldauf and her wife, Erin Cook, of Pittsburgh, and John Rodrick Baldauf and his wife, Melissa, of Seattle; 13 grandchildren, Rose, Anne, William, Lauren, Ian, Aidan, Nicolette, Elizabeth, Michael, Ainsley, Finian, Jacob, and Elliott; two brothers, Jack Baldauf and his wife, Dorothy, of Pittsburgh and Tom Baldauf and his wife, Karen, of Cranberry; one sister, Joyce Baldauf of St. Louis, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to prayer services there on Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Luke Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Forestview for their loving care, compassion, and friendship given to James and his family during his time there.
