Obituary for Betty Underwood (Loutzenhiser)

Betty Loutzenhiser Underwood, 97, a resident of St. Mary's Home East, passed away, peacefully, Wednesday May 18, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Erie on May 28, 1918 a daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth New Loutzenhiser.
Betty was a 1936 graduate of Academy High School and was a member of East Erie Turners where she enjoyed bowling. She also enjoyed gardening and helping to raise her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Underwood; one brother in infancy, Charles Loutzenhiser; and four sisters, Winifred Hafer, Madelin Wright, Margaret Knittel, and Isabelle Haise.
Survivors include one daughter, Lynda Lefaiver and her husband Joseph of Erie; two grandchildren, Keith Lefaiver and his wife Mary of Ft. Myers, FL and Kerri Fabin and her husband Michael of Erie; two great grandchildren, Frank and William Fabin; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.. Services and burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Home East, Gallagher Unit, 607 E. 26th St., Erie, PA 16504.
