Rosalind M. Folmar Vavreck age 85 of Erie, passed away on Saturday February 7, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Grassflat, PA (Clearfield County) on August 17, 1929 a daughter of the late Walter and Lucy Hartel Folmar.
Rosalind retired from St. Vincent Health Center and was a founding member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She was formerly very active as a volunteer at St. Mary’s Home East and enjoyed puzzles, word searches, games, crocheting and embroidering.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joseph B. Vavreck in 2005; one sister, Helen Gormont and four brothers, Alfred, Gerald, Jack and Leroy Folmar.
She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, James (Jill) Vavreck of Amherst, NY and Robert (Joanne) Vavreck of Erie; two daughters, Judith (David) Tome of Erie and Maribeth (Erich) Semelka of Union City; seven grandchildren, Jenn Vavreck, Emily (Joe) Manning, Lindsay Vavreck, Brian Tome, Michelle (Mike) Kappler, Dan (Emily) Vavreck and Julie Vavreck; nine great-grandchildren, Jaydin, Braylin, Ayriana, Ryan, Jolia, Addison, Aiden, Tyler and Blake and numerous extended family members.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, 16504 on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of the prayer service at 10:15 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
