Russell E. Yaple, 83, formerly of Waterford, passed away Monday February 24, 2014 at Independence Court following a brief illness. He was born in Erie on July 5, 1930 a son of the late Dewey H. and Eva P. Young Yaple.
Russell was a 1948 graduate of Academy High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was co-owner of Yaple's Dairy for many years and retired from Meadowbrook Dairy. He enjoyed collecting Erie Co. milk bottles and making his own maple syrup.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, June E. Kerr and one son in law, Wellie Yaple II.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Catherine Sanner Yaple; one daughter, Holly Yaple of Waterford; and three nieces.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to services there on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.. Burial will follow in Phillipsville Union Cemetery.
