Condolences

Condolence From: David Waldo
Condolence: I am writing during the time of service because I wish I could be there and share with you. My prayers are for you. This day has been coming for some time but I will miss my friend. Tom missed his calling as he always was able to tell me where his beloved Steelers went wrong. Certainly he could have been the coach. And he loved his Steelers. He loved his church and pastor as well. I will never forget my last visit. Ruth was away and Denise and the home health care worker was there. Tom was always as great host and was sure there was a Mt. Dew in the refrig for me. He sent Denise, then the health care worker. Both said there was no soda in the refrig. Tom decided he would have to get it himself. He forces himself to the kitchen. We think he will have to admit there is no soda. But Tom with a big smile returns to me with a cold bottle of Mt. Dew from the fridge. I will never forget that smile. And Tom loved his children. He taught them to be stubborn and to laugh. He wouldn't give up on them. And he loved Ruth very much. I loved the stories of the days in the Army when they didn't have any money, only each other. How many said it would never last and yet they proved them wrong. There were those moments when Tom would look at Ruth and you could see it clearly in his eyes. She was beautiful to him. And most importantly Tom loved Jesus. His Catholic background led to some confusion as he listened to Baptist ideas but he understood it was all about Jesus. Jesus is his Lord and Savior. It was very apparent when his son Michael died. Some thought he didn't grieve much but I knew differently. He was deeply grieved but believed that Jesus had taken Michael to be with Him. So Tom was also filled with hope. This is the hope we have today. Tom is not here but with Jesus. I was pleased to know him as a part of the flock but more so as a man of faith. (2 Cor. 4:16-18) Ruth, Kevin, Cheryl, Debbie, and Denise we love you all very much and you are in our prayers
