Betty Louise Lapham LaMaye, 84, a resident of Schmid Towers, passed away on Monday March 5, 2018 at Manchester Commons. She was born in Erie on May 17, 1933 a daughter of the late Clifford I. Lapham, Sr. and Nellie Nestlerode Schilling.

Betty worked in restaurants and as a cleaning lady. Most recently she was a manager of apartment buildings in Erie and Cleveland. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, board games, music, and plastic canvas.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Grant L. LaMaye, Sr.; two daughters, Angela and Teresa Scarano; two sons, Anthony Scarano, Jr. and Nicola Scarano; one step son, James LaMaye; and three stepdaughters, Dorothy Darker, JoAnne Percy, and Jennifer Ambrose.

Survivors include one son, Mario Scarano of Erie; three stepsons, Grant LaMaye, Jr.(Leona) of Erie, Albert LaMaye (Kathy) of North Carolina, and Carleton LaMaye of Erie; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to a memorial service at First United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church, 707 Sassafras St., Erie, 16501.
