Lamont C. Benzo “Talib Abdulqadir,” 61, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Western Reserve Healthcare & Rehab Center in Erie, PA. He was born on March 10, 1951 in Braddock, PA to the late Sharif Abdulqadir and Lillian (Morgan) Benzo.

Lamont grew up in Braddock, PA where he graduated from Braddock High School. After high school, he attended the New Castle School of Trades where he received training in the Combination Welding program.

Lamont also worked for Riley Stokers, Cablevision, Regis, and retired as a Sales Representative at TruGreen Lawn Care in 2009.

Lamont was an active member of the Islamic Association of Erie. He also enjoyed watching sports, traveling, listening to Jazz music, and spending time with his family.

Lamont was preceded in death by his father Sharif Abdulqadir , his mother Lillian (Morgan) Benzo, his brothers John (late Shirley) Benzo and Juan Ricardo Benzo, his son Dewane Keith Francis, his grandson Cartier Gamble and many other close relatives who were dear to him.

Lamont is survived by his wife Janette Andrews- Benzo of Erie, PA; children Lamont (Heather) Taylor of Cincinnati, OH, Monica Benzo, Lauren Benzo, Muhammad Abdulqadir, Belen Abdulqadir and Jamela Abdulqadir of Erie, PA;
His brothers Jerome Jerry Benzo of Minneapolis, MN, Marcellius Gaylord Benzo of Braddock, PA, Andre Anthony (Yvette) Benzo of Penn Hills, PA and sister Renee Benzo of Rankin, PA. Lastly, his grandchildren Kameron Taylor, Ariel Sherr, Ava Benzo, Avery Benzo, Alanna Jones, Christian Gamble, Kailyn Ruffin, Avion Robinson, Cameron Ruffin, Jay’ceon Martin and a host of family and friends.

Per the family’s request, a private memorial service was held at the Islamic Association of Erie. His service was then followed by his burial at Lakeside Cemetery.
