Obituary for William R. Klem

William R.  Klem
William R. Klem, 71, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 13, 2018 at Western Reserve following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Erie on August 26, 1946 a son of the late John and Goldie Tschappatt Klem.

William was a 1964 graduate of Tech Memorial and went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a supervisor with General Telephone Company for 40 years and went on to work at Presque Isle Downs. He belonged to the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) and was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed model trains, genealogy, camping, boating, and being a camp host at Lampe Marina campground.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Suzanne Kleckner Klem; his wife's children, Carol Kulesza and her husband, Randy, and Christin Martin and her significant other, Darrell, all of Erie, and James David Martin and his wife, Jennifer, of Fairview; two sisters, Karen Novisk of Erie and Vicki Konieczko and her husband, Chuck, of Florida; six grandchildren, Randy, Emily, Zachary, Austin, Camryn, and Abby; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 4:00 p.m.. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
