Obituary for Stephanie "Stella" Kosares (Konieczko)
Stephanie "Stella" Konieczko Kosares, 91, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Friday January 5, 2018 at St. Mary's Home of Erie. She was born in Erie on August 25, 1926 a daughter of the late John and Catherine Karwowski Konieczko.
Stella originally worked at the Hammermill Paper Co. and went on to work as a core setter in the foundry at Tanner Manufacturing Company for 15 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and volunteered with the U.S.O. during World War II. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and coloring.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Kosares; five brothers, Milton, John, Joseph, Leonard, and Stanley Konieczko; and two sisters, Bernice Konieczko and Helen Krasinski.
Survivors include two sons, Michael J. Kosares and his wife, Nancy, of Denver, CO and Paul D. Kosares and his wife, Kathleen, of Newark, OH; four grandchildren, Andi, Jonathan, Stephanie and her husband, Ryan, and Micah; five great grandchildren, Atlas, Dylan, Michael, Wren, and Wyatt; one brother Richard Konieczko of Columbus, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services there at 2:00 p.m.. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
