Obituary for Kurt A. Henglebrok

Kurt Albert Hengelbrok, 67, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 26th, 2017, in Monterey, California. He was born June 4th, 1950, to William and Doris Hengelbrok in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Kurt proudly served his country in the United States Navy starting in 1969, where he worked on aircrafts. He then continued on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in architecture from UC Berkeley. Kurt began to practice architecture in Fresno, California, before he and his family moved to Monterey, California, where he continued work as an architect until his passing.

Kurt spoke of his family often and loved sharing his family’s ancestry with others. He had a love for Disneyland and enjoyed collecting Disney memorabilia for himself and his children.

Kurt is survived by his wife, Janice Bowersock; his sons, Otto Hengelbrok, wife Hannah Horowitz, and Noel Hengelbrok, wife Michelle Hengelbrok; grandchildren, Reagan and Bennett; brothers, William (Darlene) and Erik (MaryBeth) both of Millcreek; sister Lorraine Smith (Kyle) of Conneaut, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Kurt will be missed and never forgotten.

A Graveside Service will take place in Erie, Pennsylvania, at Laurel Hill Cemetery, on January 5th, 2018 at 1:30PM. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #773, 4109 West 12th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
