Obituary for Thomas A. Kirsch

Thomas A. Kirsch, 92, of Greene Township, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Brevillier Village. He was born in Erie, Pa, on October 14, 1925, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Wagner Kirsch.

Tom graduated from Tech Memorial High School in 1946 and went on to service in the United States Navy during WWII, stationed in Hawaii. Upon returning to Erie, Tom started the Kirsch Construction Company with his brother, Ben, which they ran for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Boniface Church and the Greene Township Lions Club. Tom enjoyed woodworking, bee keeping, gardening and orchid growing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Thelma E. DaSilva Kirsch; his two sisters, Violet Sicilia and Oretha Wagner; and his six brothers: Joseph, Truman, Benjamin, Glen, Albert, and Peter Kirsch.

Survivors include his daughter, Phyllis Kirsch and her husband, Terry Williams, of Ambler, Pa; his two sons, Eugene Kirsch and his wife Ellie of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Thomas J. Kirsch and his wife Cindy, of Erie; his five grandchildren, Kevin, Andrea, Michelle, Christopher, and Li; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc.- 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA 16504, on Wednesday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Church. Burial will follow in Mount of Olives Cemetery.
