Obituary for Margaret L. McGarvey (Beringer)

Margaret L. Beringer McGarvey, 60, of Harborcreek, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on Monday December 4, 2017. She was born in Erie on May 6, 1957, a daughter of the late Carl and Lois Hale Beringer.

Margaret was a 1975 graduate of Harborcreek High School and attended Penn State Behrend. She worked in the IT Department at Hammermill Paper Co. and most recently worked as a Production Control Specialist at Erie Insurance for 27 years. She attended South Harborcreek United Methodist Church and was a devoted grandmother to her six grandchildren. She was involved with the Cursillo Movement and enjoyed spending time at the family hunting camp in Tidioute. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.

Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Kenneth McGarvey; two daughters, Carrie Rodgers and her wife, Kathy Rice, of Pittsburgh and Emily Rodgers of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, Delaney Rice, Ethan Belfiore, Samantha Ion, Jacob Ion, Hailey Rae Ceranski, Madilynne Sue Ceranski, and a seventh grandchild on the way, Molly Ann Rice; one stepdaughter, Kimberly McGarvey of Wattsburg; one stepson, Brian McGarvey and his wife, Courtney, of Harborcreek; three brothers, Eric Beringer of Schaumberg, IL, Gary Beringer of Harborcreek, and Dean Beringer of Rhode Island; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at South Harborcreek United Methodist Church on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral services there at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Wales Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Linda and Kayla from Great Lakes Hospice for their loving care, compassion, and guidance while caring for Margaret.
