Obituary for Anthony P. Morell

Anthony “Tony” P. Morell, 61, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at UPMC Hamot. Tony was born in Erie, on December 25, 1955, the son of the late Matthew and Catherine Truchanowicz Morell.

Tony graduated from Tech Memorial High School and went on to work for General Electric as a welder for 25 years retiring in 1999. Tony enjoyed car racing from Dirt track to NASCAR, owning and driving his own cars. He spent many weekends at local dirt tracks and never missed time at Eriez Speedway. Tony was also a huge Dale Earnhardt fan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mari Morell.

Survivors include his wife Denise Patterson Morell; his two sons, Jason and Josh Morell; his daughter, Catherine Morell, all of Erie; his three brothers, Matthew (Patty) Morell, James (Gloria) Morell, and John Morell; his six grandchildren, Merissa, Madison, Miranda, Robert, Kaleigh, and Ronnie; his great-grandson, Liam; several nieces and nephews; and his long time friend, Michael Cratty.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. on Tuesday, from 3 p.m. until the time of funeral services there at 7 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
