Joan S.  Smith (Pregler)
Joan S. Pregler Potthoff Smith, 84, of North East, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday October 16, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Erie on May 7, 1933 a daughter of the late John R. and Genevieve Sczynski Pregler.

Joan worked at G.E. as a crane operator for over 10 years and was a member of Cutting Community Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Smith; one daughter, Barbara Adams; two grandchildren, Justin Wakeley and William Smith; and one sister, Dorothy Schwab.

Survivors include four daughters, Bonnie Wesmiller (John) of North East, Dayle Weidle (William) of Petersburg, OH, Darlene Bayle of Wattsburg, and Carol Bean (Mark) of Wattsburg; three sons, Michael Potthoff of Albion, Gregory Potthoff (Tracy) of North East, and Richard Potthoff, Jr. of North East; three stepdaughters, Sally Jones (Ralph) of Erie, Denise Chase (Bill) of Union City, and Nancy Bohn of St. Louis; one stepson, Ronald Guy Smith (Linda) of Girard; one sister, Sylvia Barnes of Florida; one brother, Richard J. Pregler (Gert Post) of Findley Lake; 38 grandchildren; 83 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services there on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

The family would like to give special thanks to Corine Hayes and Audrey Kempisty for their loving care given to Joan.
