Obituary for Lawrence F. Waldinger

Lawrence F. Waldinger, 84, of Erie, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at Brevillier Village. He was born in Erie, PA on August 1, 1933, the son of the late Edward and Christine Alfieri Waldinger.

Larry worked at Hammermill Paper Co., later known as International Paper Co. for 44 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed antique cars, riding in parades, raising rabbits, gardening, and working outside. During his time at Brevillier Village, Larry was a volunteer groundskeeper and enjoyed participating in the purple martin program building a bird house.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol A. Brand Waldinger; his brothers, Gerald, Donald, and Arnold Waldinger; his sister, Frances Keith and his sister-in-law Carole Waldinger.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Rewitzer; his son, Daryl Waldinger (Kitty); his three daughters, Tammy Orlandi (Keith), Heidi Waldinger (Denise Hare), and Sherrie Lazarz (Tom); five grandchildren, Steven, Amy, & Lauren Waldinger, Julie Orlandi-Carman (Justin) and Michael Orlandi; two brothers, Edward Waldinger (Ellie) and David Waldinger; one sister Bernadine Brown (Edward); and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by two sister-in-laws, Rosalie Brand Schlaufman (Chuck) and Harriet Waldinger, and his friend Fred Murray.

Our family wishes to thank all the nurses, caregivers, and staff from Ball Pavillion at Brevillier Village for their kindness and support. We are humbled by the care and compassion given to our family. Our Fathers passing was one of love and peace. We thank them for making his last memory one of dignity and respect.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie 16504 on Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a Funeral Mass, Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Roman Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ball Pavillion at Brevillier Village - 5416 East Lake Road Erie, PA 16511.
