Alicia D. Bielanin McDonald, 45, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at UPMC- Hamot Hospital. She was born in Erie on January 9, 1972, the daughter of Patty Phillips Bielanin and the late Arthur J. Bielanin.

Alicia attended St. Benedict Academy and graduated from Tech Memorial High School in 1990. She worked for the Waterford, Millcreek, and other various school districts as a school bus driver for 24 years, retiring in 2015. Alicia was a member of St. Joseph Church/ Bread of Life Community. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, friends, and animals and loved to travel.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lorielynn Slipcevic and her brother, Michael Phillips.

Alicia is survived by her husband of 16 years, Paul McDonald; her daughter, Samantha Filson; her two sons, Christian Pawlik (Miranda) and Matthew Gowen; her sister, Theresa Herrmann (John Sr.); her brother, Steven Bielanin; and her granddaughter Khaleesi Pawlik, all of Erie.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA 16504, on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of funeral service there at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
